Established in 1807 by a young Daniel Thwaites who left his family’s farm in Cumbria to start a new life for himself, our company has a long history of brewing high quality beers and delivering warm, northern hospitality that has been passed down through the generations.

Daniel Thwaites is based in Lancashire and operates Thwaites Pubs & Brewery as well as a collective of hotels, inns and spas.

It has developed and grown over the years and now has an estate of 250 tenanted pubs, stretching from Birmingham to Carlisle and North Wales to Yorkshire – yet it has always remained true to its brewing roots and has recently invested in a new brewery in the Ribble Valley.

Our northern roots and honest straight-dealing is reflected through our teams who support all areas of the business to be a success, including tenanted pub customers.

Our award-winning brewers share the same passion for beer that Daniel Thwaites did over 200 years ago, brewing a range of traditional ales and newer craft beers that are all distributed exclusively to the company’s pubs, inns and hotels.
