Wadworth has been brewing beer in the beautiful market town of Devizes, in Wiltshire, since 1875. Originally founded by Henry Alfred Wadworth, the business passed to his founding partner John Smith Bartholomew and is now in the fifth generation of ownership by the Bartholomew family, with Toby Bartholomew leading the company as Managing Director. The brewery combines the tradition of craft beer with modern production techniques and systems. Pubs signs are still hand painted in our sign shop and the Wadworth shire horses deliver beers weekly around the town throughout the spring and summer. Our skills and craft are hugely important to us, and this is all backed up by a state of the art Steinecker brew house ensuring that our beers are the highest quality and consistency possible.

In addition to our family brewery we operate in excess of 150 pubs – across South West of England and London. Our estate is split between tenanted and managed pubs and we work hard with our partners to ensure that our pubs offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and excellent quality food and drink to keep customers coming back time and time again.

Wadworth has some of the most historic pubs in some of the most beautiful locations across the South West. Family values are ingrained throughout the business, and as a Business Partner running one of our tenated pubs, you will be welcomed into the family. As an independent family business, we’re here if you need us, when you need us. We are a small, hands on team with a wealth of industry experience and we offer our Business Partners a dedicated Retail Development Manager, a comprehensive induction plan, a range of peer to peer programmes and comprehensive training courses, as well as the ongoing support of our Trade Beer Quality Manager, Cellar Services, Executive Development Chef, Marketing, Customer Services and Property Helpdesk.

Brewery Tap & Shop

The Wadworth Brewery Tap & Shop is based at our brewery in Devizes. Pop in for a pint in the tap room, browse our merchandise or get immersed in the memorabilia and soak up the history. We run weekly ale trails around our pubs in Devizes as well as host regular events throughout the year. When our Shire horse Sam delivers beer around town on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the spring and summer, he pops by for a meet and greet at the Brewery Tap, so head on down (with a carrot or two!) to say hi.
